Refund policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This policy applies to purchases from CardBoard Monsters, a subsidiary of Boutique V-MAX inc., through cardboardmonsters.ca. It should be read together with our Terms of Service and Shipping Policy.

1. Final sale for change of mind

Except where applicable law provides otherwise, all sales of single cards and trading card game (“TCG”) products, including sealed products, are final for the following reasons: change of mind, duplicate order or customer error, personal preference, a later change in price or market value, an expected third-party grade, or dissatisfaction with the randomized contents of a product that was correctly supplied.

We therefore do not accept voluntary returns of single cards or sealed products whose packaging, wrap, seal or integrity has been opened, broken, altered, weighed, scanned, searched or otherwise compromised. Opening packaging does not, however, extinguish any mandatory statutory right.

2. Rights that continue to apply

The final-sale rule does not limit statutory warranties or mandatory remedies. We will review claims involving a product that is defective, unsafe, counterfeit, damaged on delivery, not as described, different from the item ordered, incomplete or not delivered, as well as any cancellation or refund required by law.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, the remedy may include verification, repair, replacement, exchange, a price reduction or refund. Nothing in this policy reduces any right granted to a consumer under the laws of their province or territory.

3. TCG product specifics

  • Sealed products and random contents: cards, rarities, variants, pull rates and values are determined by the manufacturer’s collation. Unless the product page expressly promises otherwise, no particular card, rarity, resale value or opening result is guaranteed. A disappointing opening or “bad pull” is not a defect.
  • Single cards: the condition, language, edition, number and variant stated on the product page form part of the description. A card sold without certification is a raw card; no result from PSA, BGS, CGC or another grading service is guaranteed unless expressly stated otherwise.
  • Images: where relevant, the product page states whether the image shows the exact copy or is a generic image. A generic image does not replace the written characteristics of the item supplied.
  • Manufacturing variation: minor printing, centring or packaging variations may occur. They do not prevent a remedy where the variation makes the product defective or inconsistent with its description.

4. Reporting a problem

Contact us as soon as reasonably possible at info@cardboardmonsters.ca and include your order number and a description of the issue. To assist the investigation, we may reasonably request photographs of the product, packaging, seal, shipping label and shipping box, and ask that all items be retained until the matter is resolved. An unboxing video is never a condition for exercising a statutory right.

Do not return any item before receiving our instructions. We may request inspection or return of the original item. Where required by law, we pay reasonable return costs and do not charge a restocking fee.

5. Cancellations, pre-orders and allocations

Outside a statutory cancellation right, a voluntary cancellation request may be refused after an order has been confirmed or entered processing. We limit quantities offered to confirmed allocations. An insufficient allocation or stock shortage does not, by itself, allow us to refuse unilaterally to perform a concluded sale where the law requires performance. If an unforeseen issue arises, we will contact you to agree on a legally permitted solution; any refund agreed to or required will be in full for the affected item. No fixed cancellation penalty is charged.

Pre-order release dates may be changed by the publisher or distributor. Such changes do not limit statutory rights relating to late delivery or non-delivery. Terms specific to pre-orders are set out in our Terms of Service and Shipping Policy.

6. Refunds

Any refund accepted or required by law is issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed or legally required. Bank processing times may vary. Where cancellation of a distance contract is permitted under Quebec law, the refund is issued within the applicable statutory period, including within 15 days after cancellation where that period applies.

7. Gift cards

If gift cards are offered, they remain subject to mandatory legal rules. In Quebec, a refund of the balance may be requested when the balance is $5 or less in circumstances provided by law.

8. Chargebacks

We invite you to contact us first so that we can resolve an issue promptly, without limiting any statutory chargeback right. We may respond to an unfounded dispute using relevant evidence of the order, payment, authenticity, communications, packaging and delivery. No fixed chargeback fee is imposed.
